Intern Evaluation and Farewell

Time flies, and it's already time for the EP to go back home. While you should try to make this process as memorable as possible (LET'S PARTY), it is also important to keep the evaluation and bureaucratic details in mind.

1
Intern Evaluation

The Account Manager or Buddy should conduct evaluation talks with the intern throughout the internship, but especially at the end. He should ask the intern about the experience and ask for feedback on his work relation with the employer. He should find out what AIESEC and the employer can improve in the future and what potential needs the customer might have in terms of employing another intern.

For this we do Personal Development Talks with the interns, also asking for feedback and providing our help. You can find some guidelines about this talks here. If you like, you can also use this Evaluation Talk for your Interns.

!!VERY IMPORTANT!!

You must make sure the intern fills out the Standards Survey, since only a completion of them means the exchange was completed. The best way to guarantee this, is to do with them together during the Evaluation Talk.

2
Farewell

There are some administrative points to clear before finishing the experience and leaving Germany. For instance the intern has to deregister from the Anmeldeamt, as well as close his/her bank account and cancel his/her insurance. Make sure that AIESEC has reimbursed all the money to the intern, that he/she has effected all payments to AIESEC (e.g. AIESEC Flat monthly rent) and also that the intern received his last work payment before closing the bank account.

The "Krankenversicherung" and taxes matters will be handeled by the employer (only if the interns in a voluntary intern). If the intern is insured with the DAAD the EP needs to cancel the insurance themselves.

Provide the intern with this information as well as instructions on how to go to the airport/train station if needed.

At the end of the intern's stay, you should organize a farewell party or a farewell dinner, in which you invite the whole LC. The best present for farewell is always a Germany flag with your signatures and phrases on it.
